RF-HUB updates firmware over the internet (Over-The-Air, OTA). You do not need to plug in a USB cable for normal updates — the hub downloads new versions directly from Tarra's cloud.
How to update
Go to Settings → Firmware in the RF-HUB web interface. There you will see:
- Current version and whether a new version is available
- Changelog — what is new in each version
- Update button — click to download and install
The update normally takes 1–2 minutes. You only lose contact with the hub during the actual restart (a few seconds). If something goes wrong, the new version is rolled back automatically.
Is configuration preserved during an update?
Yes. WiFi credentials, device list, automation rules, schedules, MQTT config — everything is preserved. The hub comes back with the same devices and settings.
What do I do if OTA does not work?
- Firewall blocks qtrl.me — RF-HUB connects to
qtrl.me:443over TLS - WiFi router has blocked outgoing traffic — check parental controls or IoT restrictions
If OTA gets stuck, you can always update manually via USB — see Update via USB.
How often are new versions released?
Bug fixes monthly. Larger features a few times a year. We never force you to update — you choose when it suits you.
